Early Intervention to School Transition Process

Students receiving Early Intervention (EI) services are considered for a transition to school based services before their third birthday. Our transition process includes:

  1. Early Intervention Coordinator provides Director of Special Education with student file for review with parent consent
  2. Transition meeting with EI coordinator and Director of Special Education is held at least 90 days before the child’s 3rd birthday. At this meeting the Director of Special Education will explain the transition process and how services are delivered to pre-school students in District 107.
  3. Families complete Residency Verification and registration paperwork before an evaluation can be initiated.
  4. Evaluation - Based on a review of student records from Early Intervention, the Director of Special Education will work with District 107 staff or the LaGrange Area Department of Special Education (LADSE) to schedule an evaluation
  5. IEP meeting - The IEP meeting including  parents, the evaluation team, and the Director of Special Education will be held to  review the evaluation and consider eligibility for special education
