Pleasantdale Partners with Police and Fire Departments to Make Schools Safe

School safety is a top priority at Pleasantdale School District. To assure that all the necessary procedures are in place to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, the District has partnered with the Burr Ridge Police Department, the Pleasant View Fire Department, and the Pleasant Dale Park District to completely revise the District’s crisis plan. As a result, plans are in place to deal with potential emergencies requiring immediate building evacuation or a lock-down of a facility. Staff members and students regularly practice emergency procedures that include fire drills, lock downs, and bus evacuations.

Building access is closely monitored throughout the school day. Visitors are only allowed in once visual contact has been established. Once admitted into a school building, visitors must sign in and wear a “visitor” badge.

The Pleasantdale School community is extremely fortunate to be served by Police and Fire Departments that take a very proactive role in school safety. Pleasantdale School District holds annual review sessions with our partners to make sure our crisis plan is always up-to-date.

Sincerely,
