Welcome to the Middle School Library

My name is Jana Stelter and I am the Library Media Specialist for the Middle School.  I have been teaching 30 years and have spent the last 23 at Pleasantdale Middle School.  I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Physical Education from Illinois State University and a Masters in English from Northern Illinois University.  I joined the staff here at Pleasantdale in 1987 as the seventh grade Language Arts Teacher.  I wanted to make a difference in the Library program here and began working on my Library degree.  I received my Library Endorsement from Northern Illinois in 2000 and have been working in the library ever since.  I enjoy the challenges of the Middle School library that come from the wide range of ages (5th gr. through 8th gr.), the flex scheduling, working with grade level teachers creating units and research opportunities, and most of all the outstanding Book Club that we do 3 times a year.  With more than 50% of the student body involved in the book club, we can truly say that Pleasantdale is a school of readers.
