Association of Library Service to Children
The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is a division of the American Library Association. By using the margin menus on the left and right of the home page visitors can access sites For Parents, Cool Sites for Kids and more. The center menu offers a nice section for Parents and Caregivers.
ALA Resources for Parents, Teens and Kids
This is an outstanding list of quick click sites ranging from book lists for youth and young adults to award winner over the years to the top 10 web sites for families. This is very much worth the visit.
Carol Hurst’s Children’s Literature Site
Carol Hurst’s book reviews appear in Teaching K-8 Magazine. Lists of similar books, story themes and others accompany featured books at this site. There are links to articles on selected children’s authors and illustrators.
The Children’s Book Council
Enter this site by clicking on Publisher, Author, Artist, Librarian, Parent, Bookseller, or Teacher to find information arranged in the order most appropriate to your needs. On the author and illustrator page you’ll find brief information on prominent authors and illustrators for your child’s age group. There is a featured theme with recommended books that cover that theme. There are also links to web sites for specific authors.

Database of Award-Winning Children's Literature
At this site you click on Search Database. Enter keywords and criteria into this database andit will create a reading list based on your parameters. You can look for books with only African American protagonists; books set in World War II; only books that have been nominated for a particular award. You decide.
Kids Webrary
This site was created for users of Morton Grove Public Library but anyone can use it. It is great for someone who is looking for books on specific topics. There are lists of books about boys, girls, horses, sports, fantasy and more.
