WELCOME

Welcome to the Eigth Grade Language Arts Web Page. This web page is brought to you by Ms. Jastrzebski and is your source for news and information.

I graduated from DePaul University in 2009 with a degree in Secondary English Education (6-12).  I grew up and currently live in the Riverside area.  This is my second year of teaching.  Last year I taught 8th Language Arts and worked as a School Improvement Specialist in Decatur, IL.  Prior to that, I was a substitute teacher in the English Departments of several local schools, including Lyons Township High School.  Currently, I am working on my Master’s of Education in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine University.

I look forward to working here because I can already tell that Pleasantdale has such a great faculty and group of students!

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We have an exciting year ahead of us.

Composition- We will focus on narrative writing first and then persuasive writing in preparation for the Explore test.  Our first paper will be a literacy autobiography.

The grades in Literature and Composition are based off of total points. For example, in Composition class the writing assignments are worth more points than the weekly vocabulary assignments.
