WELCOME
Welcome to the Seventh Grade Language Arts Web Page. This web page is brought to you by Mrs. Jastrzebski and is meant to give you the latest and greatest news and information.
I graduated from DePaul University in 2009 with a degree in Secondary English Education (6-12). I grew up and currently live in the Riverside area. This is my second year of teaching. Last year I taught 8th Language Arts and worked as a School Improvement Specialist in Decatur, IL. Prior to that, I was a substitute teacher in the English Departments of several local schools, including Lyons Township High School. Currently, I am working on my Master’s of Education in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine University.
I look forward to working here because I can already tell that Pleasantdale has such a great faculty and group of students!
Literature- We will start the school year with a short story unit. We will be reviewing reading strategies and analyzing how different elements of a story interact.
A major part of Literature class is independent reading. Students always need to have their independent reading book with them. Students are expected to read at least one book a month. Towards the end of each month, there will be a one-pager assignment due.
Composition- We will focus on narrative writing for the next several weeks. Our first paper will be a literacy autobiography.
Please feel free to contact me anytime by either phone or email.

The grades in Literature and Composition are based off of total points. For example, in Composition class the writing assignments are worth more points than the weekly vocabulary assignments.
