The Pleasantdale School District 107 Board of Education has approved a new five-year contract for Superintendent Dave Palzet at its Jan. 18 meeting, in lieu of his existing contract. Palzet, who has been with the district since the 2015-16 school year and whose current contract was set to expire June 30, 2018, has met all of the performance goals included in his latest 2015-2018 Employment Contract. The new contract that was approved by the Board will run from the 2017-2018 school year through the 2021-2022 school year.
The new contract will tie Palzet’s annual salary increases to the consumer price index (CPI) with a floor of no less than 2 percent and a ceiling of no more than 4 percent. In addition, during each contract year, Palzet shall have the ability to obtain a monetary bonus determined by his achievement of specified goals identified and approved by the Board no later than the August Board meeting of each contract year.
According to Mark Mirabile, Board president, the Board reviewed Palzet’s performance in December and all agreed that they wanted to continue guiding him over an extended length of time as he has already accomplished a great deal in a short time period. The Pleasantdale School Board voted unanimously on Jan. 18 to approve the contract.
“We are very happy with him,” said Mirabile. “When you’re happy with what someone is doing for you, you want to see that continue. Pleasantdale School District is a better place because of Dave Palzet.”
Superintendent Palzet echoed the positive remarks of Board members and is looking forward to continuing his successful working relationship with the Board, staff and members of the Pleasantdale community.
“I am excited to continue our good work to move the district forward,” said Palzet. “The Pleasantdale community places a high value on their schools which is reflected in the partnerships we have formed and the success we have experienced. This contract is a wonderful vote of confidence on behalf of the Board and the community and I vow to continue to work my hardest to meet their high expectations. I look forward to helping move the district from great to greater!”
Palzet’s most recent accomplishments during his tenure include: improved home/school communication; development of a 1:1 technology program; creation and implementation of a facilities plan; initiation of a new strategic plan; ensuring the district’s fiscal responsibility; and negotiated a fair and fiscally responsible 5-year contract with the Teacher’s Association of Pleasantdale.
Pleasantdale School District 107 serves portions of the communities of Burr Ridge, Countryside, Indian Head Park, Willow Springs and unincorporated Cook County.
