Welcome to fourth grade!
I am Mrs. Amy Windisch, your child’s fourth grade teacher. I am excited for the upcoming year and look forward to this year being filled with enthusiasm and learning. I look forward to getting to know your child and having a year filled with smiles, laughter, and discovery. I hope to foster your child’s self-reliance and independence this year as we tackle the fourth grade curriculum.
As a parent, I realize the value of having an open line of communication and understanding of your child’s daily activities. I believe that it takes the parent, the child and the teacher working together as a team to create a positive educational experience. With our unified guidance (at home or in the classroom), your child should achieve their academic and social goals.
Welcome to fourth grade and a marvelous journey!

Mrs. Windisch’s 4th Grade Mission for 2009 - 2010
We, the students of Mrs. Windisch’s 4th grade class agree to be successful students that are strong in character, to always try our best, work together as a team, to complete our work and hand it in on time, and to model the "Eagle Way."

Helpful Summer Hints:
- Read everything possible. Read to brothers and sisters, neighbors, family members, and peers. Read books that are short or long, but don't forget to check the book first. If you make more than two mistakes on a full page of your choice then the book is too hard!
- Keep working on your journals! Write stories, poems, reports and other genre that you like during the summer monthes. Share your stories with family and friends - and don't forget to edit, edit, edit!

- "Do the Math!" Keep up with your math facts - multiplication and division facts CAN get rusty with time.
- Keep asking great Science questions! If you don't know the answer, create an experiment to help you find the answer. Remember, when you use tools such as timers, rulers, cups/quarts/gallons and other items to get accurate measurements, you're working in math, too!

- When you travel, learn something new about every place you visit. Learn about the people, the places and the economy of the area. Ask questions like, "Why is this here?" or "What makes this place an area of interest for others?" Ask your parents to let you use maps to plot a course to your next destination. You are great explorers, so go for it!
