Welcome to Mrs. Arroyo and Mrs. Sarwark's classroom!

Hi, My name is Lucy Leone-Arroyo. I have been teaching first grade at Pleasantdale Elementary School since 2001. I have been extensively trained in the areas of Guided Reading and Literacy which fuels my passion for teaching children how to read. Creating confident and happy learners is a goal I have each and everyday in my classroom. I love being a teacher and my equally favorite role is that of wife and mommy to my family. For a third school year, I am enjoying sharing this wonderful first grade class with Judy Sarwark. This job share experience continues to be a blessing and I continue to enjoy giving 100% to these students and to this district.

My name is Judy Sarwark. I have been teaching for over twelve years on both a full-time basis and as a substitute. For a third year, Mrs. Arroyo and I have the opportunity to job share in the first grade at Pleasantdale Elementary School. It is an extremely rewarding teaching experience to share a classroom. We have similar teaching philosophies and styles, making our job share successful for both our students and parents. In addition to being a teacher, I am a wife and mother. I have been married for thirty years, and we have three children (young adults). Given my husband and I are empty-nesters, I love having a class of first graders!

We want to welcome everyone back to a wonderful school year here in First Grade. In Writing Workshop we are all participating in Shared Writing Interviews which is really helping us all get to know eachother. We have already begun our green word and red word lessons in Phonics and our Guided Reading groups are already under way!! We have also nearly concluded our first Social Studies unit. As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns about your first grader. This is going to be an amazing year!!
