Hot Lunch Program
Credits are not issued for out of town absences, or Dr./Dentist appointments unless 3 day advance notice is sent to me in writing, cancelling lunches. Please let the children help in selecting lunch choices. It really makes for a more pleasurable lunch experience.
What happens if you realize your student didn’t take a lunch to school? Parents can still bring a lunch to school in time for the student’s lunch. Or, you can call me. Some days the Hot Lunch Program has extra lunches for sale and you will be billed later. Otherwise, lunch aides make sure students are given a healthy snack if no other lunch is available.
Thank you.

Birthday Celebrations at the Elementary School
Birthdays are special occasions for children. Birthdays and half-birthdays are recognized at school. On their special day, students are sent to the office for special treatment. They receive a small gift from the office, their name is displayed on the lighted hallway sign, they announce their birthday over the intercom, and lead the school in the morning pledge and song. Students may also bring in a photograph for the birthday board which will be displayed all month.
School is not an appropriate place to communicate birthday party information. Invitations often get misplaced, given to the wrong people, etc. Parents are requested to take care of birthday party invitations outside of school.
Sending birthday treats to school is not allowed. Children have the option of donating toward the school library as part of the PTA Book Club. A permanent personalized sticker is placed in the book. This is a recommended birthday treat.

Responsibility
Instilling responsibility in our children is a priority. In school, for example, students learn how to organize and prioritize their homework. A daily amount of time is spent with assignment notebooks, organizing desks and backpacks, and making sure students are fully prepared for homework. Occasionally, students forget and want to come back to school after they get home. This could become habitual, students are only allowed to do this one time during the school year. Although this practice may sound harsh to some, students usually learn their lesson and become a little more responsible for their actions. Of course, when using their one chance to go back to the classroom, permission and supervision is necessary. Students and parents must check in at the office before going to any classroom. The school office closes at 4:15. After hours, the cleaning staff is not permitted to let any students back in the building for any reason.
Your support and understanding is appreciated.

Traffic Safety During After School Pick-ups
After school pick-ups are hectic because of the number of cars in the back parking lot. Traffic patterns have been set up so the flow of cars is organized and accidents are avoided. Please drive slowly and carefully in the back lot. There are students and parents walking to their cars and we have witnessed cars driving extremely fast in this area. We have had some close calls and the students’ safety needs to be a priority. We appreciate your cooperation.

Lost and Found
The lost and found box is located outside Nurse Lisa's office. Jackets and sweatshirts which have been found are hanging in the APR. Please stop by the office to have a look if your child is missing items.
