Special Education Services at District 107
Hello and welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. It is with much enthusiasm that I introduce myself to you, as the new Director of Special Education. Although I have only been employed here for a few short weeks, I have already had the pleasure of working on committees and teams with many staff members, as well as spoken to several parents. I am delighted to be here and look forward to the months ahead.
As a graduate of Purdue University, I started my educational career as a Special Education Teacher in Northwest Indiana. While teaching, I pursued a Master’s and Educational Specialist’s Degree in School Psychology from Valparaiso University. This career led me to the Near-west Suburbs of Illinois, where I began my path as School Psychologist for the LaGrange Area Department of Special Education (LADSE) where I have been employed for the past seven years. After completing coursework through Loyola University to obtain my Administrative Certificate, I had the honor of spending my last five years with LADSE as one of their Program Administrators. During that time, my responsibilities included coordinating and developing the Early Childhood Programs, Multi-needs Program, and Extended School Year Programs. Although all of my experiences with LADSE were nothing but positive, I am most excited to have the opportunity to once again be part of a school community. I have quickly learned that there may be no better place to learn what it truly means to be part of a school community than Pleasantdale District 107.
I thank you for this opportunity and look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Kelly Voliva
Director of Student Services
